2009 Bryant Family Bettina Proprietary Red |
ナパのカルトワインのひとつ、ブライアント・ファミリーがDavid Abreuのぶどう畑からのぶどうでつくる赤ワインブレンド。
The Bettina Bryant Proprietary Red Wine is a gorgeous blend of Bordeaux varietals sourced from three of David Abreu’s own exceptional estate vineyards – Madrona, Thorevilos, and Lucia Howell Mountain. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, and made with the same attention to detail as Bryant, this wine is beautifully layered and complex.
ワインメーカー Helen Keplinger’s Tasting Notes:
The 2009 Bettina is gorgeously layered, with candied violets, blackberry, blueberry, classic cassis, Madagascar vanilla bean, fresh suede, curry and clove. Showing incredible complexity, the flavors are expansive and sublime on the palate, with plush tannins and an endless finish. This wine will benefit from 20 minutes of decanting for the first 18 months.

"The estate’s 2009 Bettina offers up sweet red berries, freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and crushed rocks. The 2009 Bettina stands out for its bright, high-toned aromas and flavors, as well as its intense, saline minerality. Everything about the 2009 is in the right place. This is a flat-out great bottle of wine. In a word: Fabulous. Wow! Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029.
Perched on Pritchard Hill above the shores of Lake Hennessey, Bryant is without question one of the most spectacular vineyards in Napa Valley. I don’t see any reason why the Cabernets that emerge from this property shouldn’t be among the top 5-10 wines in the valley each and every year, but continuity is the key to making that happen. Following the departure of Helen Turley in 2002, Bryant has employed Philippe Melka, Mark Aubert, Ross Wallace, Helen Keplinger and now Todd Alexander, who took over in October 2012."

" The 2009 Bettina Bryant is a striking wine graced with exquisite aromatics and beautifully delineated fruit. It is a bit darker, firmer and more inward than the Bryant Cabernet Sauvignon. Espresso, spices, black cherries, tobacco, leather and red berries are woven together beautifully in this fabulous Bordeaux-style blend. This is a drop-dead gorgeous wine. The only problem is that it might very well challenge the Bryant Cabernet! In 2009 the blend is 55.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23.8% Cabernet Franc, 16.9% Merlot and 3.7% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029.
Don Bryant’s hillside vineyard occupies a gorgeous position above Lake Hennessey. The wines capture the very best qualities of what makes Napa Valley so compelling. Although they are quite showy when young, the wines also age exceptionally well. The 2009s are strikingly beautiful. They aren’t huge wines, but rather Cabernets that impress for their superb balance. The 2010s will thrill readers who appreciate a bolder, more powerful style. The Bettina Bryant is a new wine Don Bryant has dedicated to his wife Bettina made from fruit sourced from David Abreu’s vineyards Madrona Ranch, Thorevilos and Lucia Howell Mountain. I was also able to convince Bryant to show me the second wine of Bryant, DB Four, although it took every ounce of my persuasive powers.
