2009 マウント・エデン シャルドネ エステート
2009 Mount Eden Chardonnay Estate
Notes from the Winemaker:
The Vineyard:
In the late 1940s and early 1960s, Martin Ray planted six acres of chardonnay vines propagated
from a Burgundian selection grown in the original Paul Masson vineyard.
We now farm 20 acres of estate chardonnay, from which we produce 1,200 to 2,000 cases per year.
Yields average one to two tons per acre, far below the average for chardonnay in California.
Fermentation and Aging:
Our Estate Chardonnay grapes are harvested when slightly yellow to yellow-green
and are pressed without crushing. All of the juice is barrel-fermented in new and one year old French Burgundy barrels,
where the wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation and is aged on the lees for ten months
before being lightly filtered prior to bottling. The Chardonnay is then cellared for two years before being released for sale.
Ratings & Reviews
94 Points - ワイン・スペクテーター:
At first, this teases, fresh and snappy, displaying lively acidity and zesty citrus, green apple and pear notes. Turns pithy midpalate, but the flavors pour though on the finish, adding mouthwatering touches of light oak and mineral. Should only get better. Drink now through 2025.—J.L. (May 9, 2012)

93 Points - ロバート・パーカーのワイン・アドヴォケイト:
"The 2009 Chardonnay Estate is incomparably elegant. Lemon, lime, crushed rocks, spices and mint are some of the many nuances that take shape as the 2009 opens up in the glass. The 2009 is unusually open and approachable for a young Mount Eden Chardonnay, but there is plenty of stuffing for it to age well for many years. The 2009 will be even better in another few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. " - Antonio Galloni (Aug 2011)
