I tasted the 2021 Chardonnay Cuvée Indigène as a finished tank sample the day before it was bottled. A barrel selection matured for 15 months in about 40% new French oak, initial wafts of saline and matchstick slowly give way to a deep core of yellow peach and lemongrass on the nose. The medium-bodied palate has a luxurious, satiny texture, seamless yet energetic acidity and highly concentrated fruits that blossom slowly as the wine glides into a tremendously long finish. Expressive and perfumed, I can barely put this down! 550 cases were produced and will be released in February of 2023.
