Domaine Carneros Estate Pinot Noir begins in our four individual Certified Organic estate vineyards, which contain eleven unique clones of Pinot Noir. Each clone contributes a unique flavor profile and personality into this compelling mosiac of Carneros terroir.
The fruit for our 2011 Estate Pinot Noir was gently de-stemmed, leaving many whole berries. A “cold soak” followed for five full days prior to fermentation, which took nine to twelve days in small open-topped vats. The fermenting must was punched three times a day to heighten color and flavor development. After pressing off, the finished wine went directly into French oak barrels where it rested for ten months until bottling.
The 2011 edition of our Estate Pinot Noir packs a full range of flavors. Beginning with the nose one encounters a beam of pure red fruit including cherry and pomegranate, complemented by hints of anise, clove, sandalwood and a wisp of smoke. The palate delivers more juicy red fruit flavors along with black plums, and a persistent finish with sweet fruit. The hallmark of Domaine Carneros Estate Pinot Noir is the refined texture. This wine more than delivers with a supple and silky mouth-feel guaranteed to please.
This hand-crafted Pinot Noir can be enjoyed alone as an aperitif or matched with a diverse group of dishes such as beef, poultry, pork or grilled salmon, prepared in a variety of culinary styles.
