The 2010 Kanzler Vineyards Sonoma Coast offers a classic Pinot Noir experience to the stand-alone sipper. Paired with food it exhibits an earthy complexity of mushrooms and sweet caramelized onions that makes it a delightful main dish companion. The wine is drinking beautifully now, but decanting it will help release its youthful exuberance in full. Another recommended option is open it, pour a taste and reseal with the original cork for 12-24 hours. Then revisit and enjoy the metamorphosis.

A firm, assertive style, showing well-structured wild berry and blackberry fruit, with touches of mineral and spice. Very tight and closed, yet dense and concentrated, ending with a mix of mineral and ripe berry. Drink now through 2019. 450 cases made. –JL
